Things aren’t exactly going along as planned. I apparently will not be publishing Gritty Kitty: Half Passed Curfew through Amazon’s Kindle Vella. As I mentioned in my last post, I was retooling the story to fit the platform’s episodic format. Well, it turns out that Kindle Direct Publishing wasn’t too keen on that idea:
During our review, we found that the content included in the following episode(s) does not meet the requirements for Kindle Vella because it has previously been published on Amazon in another format submitted through your KDP account.

Kindle Vella is a serial reading experience. To protect readers from purchasing Kindle Vella content they have already read in a different format, you cannot break down your previously published book or long-form content into episodes and republish in Kindle Vella, even if that book or long-form content is no longer available.
As a result, we won’t be making the story available to readers.
I get it. Amazon is just looking out for the end-user. But, I don’t think more than five people purchased my previous (very low priced) Kindle offering of Gritty Kitty and they were probably people that I know and would understand. So, it looks like I’ll have to switch to “Plan B” if I want to publish through Kindle Vella. As a result, I might not have as much content good to go at the platform’s launch—but them’s the breaks. “What is Plan B?” you ask. It might be something called…
